Writing Has Healed My Heart
A little about me.
I’m dyslexic: Writing for a living was never something I thought I would do. Spelling and grammar have never been my friends.
It wasn’t until college that I was exposed to creative writing and fell in love. I learned good spelling and grammar weren’t the only things needed to be a writer; you had to be able to tell a fantastic story. And telling stories was simply part of who I am. Finding many of my life events as a child lacking zing, I have been telling stories since I was little. Let’s say it landed me in the principal’s office more times than I can count.
Twenty years later, I use my imagination to create great stories for others to experience and find hope. I wish to make readers laugh, sigh, and root for the characters I so enjoy creating. Along with helping other writers reach their dreams through my writing coaching and mentoring.
I am a mother of three and a retired navy wife. Writing is the passion that helped me through many of my husband’s deployments. I love running half-marathons with my husband and friends that wish to suffer with me in the name of fun; Jane Austen, tattoos, sarcasm, quick wit, gardening, crafting, and all things Harry Potter. But most of all, I enjoy the quiet moments of my day where I can sit and reflect on the day’s events.A little about my education.
A Little About My Education
Let’s see. I started off going to junior college in Lake Forest, IL, in 2001, where I received my Associate of Psychology. Then, after a ten-year sabbatical from school and after five years of being a self-taught author, I made it official and returned to school in 2017. I changed my major to creative writing and received my Bachelor’s in 2019 with a minor in graphic design. I received my Master of Creative Writing with a focus in YA December 2021.
I am a seeker of self-truth and purpose—a lover of helping and giving to others. I have a certification in life coaching that helped transform my life. I also love being a writing coach and providing developmental editing that allows new authors to tell their best stories. I organize writing groups for teens to better grow Idaho’s writing community. For me, writing heals hearts one fictional character and plotline at a time.
After Grad School, I created Ruthless Writers Publishing because I was burnt out and wanted a way to make writing fun again. So I came up with fun fiction writing prompts that got me back into the grove. And I want to help do the same for other writers.
